World Book Day 2017

We had a great week in school celebrating books and reading! The children focussed on reading activities across the week, including: D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything and Read), many children have already filled out an ‘index card’ detailing their favourite book and their reasons why they love it, or they have written a letter to their favourite book character asking them 3 questions, we had a ‘Teacher reading swap’, where class teachers read stories to different classes and the children explored the reasons their classroom is a ‘reading classroom’! Added to that we had a good selection of ‘charades’ or scenes sent in that represent a book, by capturing an image that tells the whole story of a book in one go; then there have been the ‘books in a box’! These have been a great success, showcasing both the wide range of books and characters that fire the children’s imagination, as well as their creativity and ingenuity using their artistic skills! Thank you for all the support and engagement with the activities and we look forward to reading remaining at the fore. We are creating a display board showcasing a selection of the work produced from all classes, which will be added to across the coming week, with much of the work also being displayed in and around our library.
